“Learn to drink the cup of life as it comes.” –Agnes Turnbull
Those are tough words to swallow. (No pun intended.) Acceptance has its easy moments; I believe I am very accepting of others but I struggle to accept a lot of situations in life like hard times or parts of myself. Maybe that’s normal because if I just accepted certain things as “it is what it is” I wouldn’t be pushed to grow. The other side of acceptance is something I need to be able to do – accept things I can’t control and let go. We all spend a lot of time in worry and that we can’t change no matter how much we try. The worst part is that in spending so much time wrapped up in worry we don’t get to take advantage of the beautiful moments. Stress and worry are so distracting that we forget to stop and enjoy moments with friends. Laughter gets lost and the next thing we know we have worried ourselves into tomorrow and lost the present to yesterday. We have to learn to be present, enjoy the little moments, ignore the things we can’t control, and sip away at life to enjoy it to its fullest potential. So find what you want to fill your cup of life and enjoy it, savor it as much as you can!
