“Be brave, take risks and allow the unexpected.” –Unknown

Being brave is something everyone wants at some point in their lives. It’s why we take any risks at all… to feel the rush that being brave brings. Most often we think of this in the form of jumping out of an airplane, fighting a fire, rushing into danger or something big and bold. What I like about this quote is that it sheds like on what is really brave. Allowing the unexpected. Being brave is really about facing fear, about steeping over the safety lines we’ve drawn in the sand and facing the biggest fear of all… the unknown and unexpected. Being brave means letting go of the known, the “safe” and realizing that unexpected things happen and they are good. Unexpected may be painful, hard or just exhausting but without all of those things we don’t have growth, healing, hope or happiness.

Be brave. Don’t just allow the unexpected, embrace it.
