“You are not broken...” –Matthew Hussey

You are not broken. You are in pain. And pain passes.
In fact, it doesn’t just pass, it leaves you with superpowers you didn’t have before.
A knowledge of how strong you can be. A new depth of character.
An ability to relate to more people in life. An increased empathy and a fearlessness that comes from knowing that the last thing that felt like dying didn’t actually kill you.

— Matthew Hussey

I know this hit home for many of us. We’ve been talking about the reality of pain. We’ve also been doing our best to focus on pain ending, the silver linings, and the rainbow after the storm. I come into contact with so many people every day who ask, “Why did this happen?” “Why am I like this?” “Why does it just keep getting worse?”

I ask these questions too, but have never felt like I had the true answer. Yet maybe there isn’t just one answer. Maybe the answers differ as much as the questions. I truly at the deepest part of me, despite still asking “Why?”

I know everything I have even encountered, both good and bad has happened so that I am molded into the person someone else will need. Maybe it is your answer too. Maybe we experience the lives that we do so that someone else has a person to walk through their darkness with or to dance with them in their sunshine. It’s been said that life is about community, tribes, family —  connection.

Experience brings connection. Connection brings hope. Hope carries life.
