Wellness Tool #8: Painting
The intrinsic benefits of painting may be one of the reasons why so many people turn to art therapy to find peace of mind. Personally, I use this as a primary coping tool on hard days however to me painting is just a lot of fun on its own! I believe it has something to do personally with how the paint looks on the canvas, how the colors flow and clash, but most importantly it’s the freedom to express myself in some fashion that is not controlled by rules and deadlines. All of this really helps remind me that at the end of the day it’s going to be ok. Outside of that, I really like the challenge of trying out different styles of painting and seeing how I like or dislike them based on the effects that they create in the final piece.
