This one thought…. at this moment… is the most precious.

Many things in life are unexpected; some bring us to our knees and others create joyous wonder. Life is uncertain and everything is not in our control. My life experiences have brought me to a place that I trust more and more in “Something Greater than myself” and I believe it’s loving and generative and ever expanding.

Recently, I’ve encountered some AWEsome experiences with friends (or “PHriends” if you love the group PHish!) and felt blessed to be part of these sacred moments. These are times that are impossible to make up. They happen in the “now”— with one thought, in one moment, that become immensely precious! I believe if we get still, and pay attention, and listen with open hearts, we all encounter loving, generative, and expanding moments that transcend beyond ourselves.

The most recent examples I have encountered with friends started with one thought that passed through me in a single moment. I easily could have kept these thoughts to myself or just dismissed them. Instead, in each instance, I chose to act on the thought, reach out to the friend it applied to and share the thought. The synergy of the connection was most precious! It was the generative, ever expanding ripple effect of the one thought, in that specific moment shared with one other person that became purely precious. Words can’t truly describe it—the unfolding morphed; it was synergistic and alchemical. It took on a life of its own. Truly AWEsome! It’s impossible to make up or re-create. Only those experiencing it receive its ultimate power.

The UNexpected. The twists and turns. They’re always upon us. The brutal and the beautiful. Gifts arrayed before us. In the quiet. In the stillness. The loving voice that whispers inside us.

Open your heart, listen for the one thought in the “now” moment. Act on it. Experience the alchemy. Then, let it begin again — pay attention, listen in the quiet of now, act, and experience the continuous unfolding of this most precious gift of life!
