"You can only lie to yourself for so long before the truth comes out and eats you alive."

Oof. This one stung me a little when it came through my feed. I instantly questioned: “Do I lie to myself?”

The answer is “yes” by the way. But the “Why?” I still haven’t figured out. Why do we lie to ourselves? Are we trying to protect ourselves from painful truths? Or maybe we are trying to convince ourselves that a lie is actually true so the web grows. The harsh reality here is the fact that of anyone in this world, we shouldn’t feel we have to lie to ourselves. Are we not safe enough in our own minds that we can just be open and honest in our own narrative?

I have so many questions here and I’m sure you do too. For today though, let’s set the questions aside and look within to the truth of who we are. Then let’s protect that reality and just be honest with ourselves. Even when the truth hurts – after all – we are the one person we will always have. Let’s keep us strong, caring and full of hope.
