“One of the hardest things I'm learning is: I'm worthy recovery.” –Unknown
We are surrounded by people in recovery. I’m one of them! Heck if we want to go there, everyone is in recovery from something. Maybe it’s not drugs, alcohol, or some addiction. Maybe you are recovering from an abusive situation or recovering from a loss in your life. The point here is everyone has something they are overcoming. The struggle gets real though when the healing starts to happen, and the self-doubt comes in. Maybe someone in your world didn’t react well to a healthy boundary you put in place, or they commented about how you “used to be so much fun.” The self-doubt says recovery isn’t needed because of these external reactions. But it’s wrong. Bottom line, you are the top priority. Ask yourself what you want your life to be and chase it no matter what anyone says or does. You know what’s best for you, you deserve to be everything you ever wanted, and you need to protect your recovery at all costs. Maybe friends will walk away and that’s their loss – it’s your chance to discover true friendship.
You deserve recovery and the life you have always wanted to live so chase it!
