Image of hands uplifted with a light behind it, musical staff and notes are on top, with Quote by Plato at the forefront

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” –Plato

It seems like self-care is something that is talked about more and more these days, but I’m not sure everyone is really practicing it. I know I’m not great about it. So when this quote came to mind, I thought maybe we could have a little chat about self-care and this is one example of mine. Plato said this long before The Beatles, Queen, Bach, Mozart, and the Beach Boys and he knew what he was talking about. Music is the one thing that can take me to a whole new place. My mind gets so busy these days that a book can be hard to focus on. I love to take walks and they are so much better when something is bopping in my ears! Self-care is the one thing that we all need to make more of a priority, not just for our sake but for the sake of those around me. People that know me will tell you, if I’m not in a good place, music will turn it around. Even something as simple as sitting alone in my car in my own driveway with something loud and upbeat can turn my whole day around. When I’m stressed and anxious, I throw on some soothing music in my headphones for a bit to re-center. Music gives life and self-care is critical to being at our very best. Find your music, your self-care, and make yourself a priority daily.
