Hello, you masterpieces! We all are unique works of art unfolding every second of every day and continue to for our lifetimes. How do you feel your unfolding is going?
I have a good friend who is an award-winning author and illustrator who tells me that there are points in the process of illustrating where it looks rather ugly. Looking at it then, no one would believe it would become an award-winning book. Yet, it’s a very natural part of the unfolding of the masterpiece.
Our recovery journeys are much the same; there are times things look/feel awfully ugly. However, it’s all part of the total masterpieces we are. Like any art, our unfolding can be modified. Different techniques and tools can be used to generate different effects. We are all creators in this process of unfolding.
What do you want to experience as part of the masterpiece you are? Is it more trust or freedom or peace or… the list is endless. Once you have chosen yours, then consider the relationships you’re in and your environment and places and activities you involve yourself in—do they draw you into those things you want to experience and create in your life? You might answer some with a resounding “yes,” others not so much, and some you realize are drawing you away from what you desire to experience. Being conscious of these things is a great unfolding of the work of art you are.
Celebrate the areas that are unfolding beautifully. In those areas that are iffy, and those that are clearly drawing you away from what you want to experience in your life, be kind and supportive to yourself as you consider ways to make modifications. It’s never too late to empower yourself and create new experiences you desire. Keep unfolding, every second of every day, more and more into the wondrous masterpiece you are!
