“Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” –Warren Buffett
How many things in our lives exist because someone else took the time to make them happen? What impacts us today because of one simple step another person took? We are surrounded by legacies left behind but so rarely do we take the time to appreciate them. Not a day goes by that our lives aren’t intertwined with a handful of others… the shade of a tree, coffee in the pot, words written or spoken…
The challenge in this quote is two parts: How will we respond to the actions of others and how will we intentionally impact others? I know my goal is first to see and appreciate not just the big things but the little decisions made by others that make my world a little brighter. My next goal is to be aware of how my decisions impact others and leave a wake of intentionality in every step I take. I want to be the reason someone can sit and relax in the shade.
