Wellness Tool #12: Spirituality

Spirituality is defined as meaning and purpose in life. Each morning I attempt to read and study. Spirituality involves the recognition of a feeling or sense or belief that there is something greater than myself. Spirituality can decrease stress, by creating a sense of quiet, stillness, and peace. We spend so much time rushing from activity to activity and trying to get things done things like giving up control, increase meaning, enhance a sense of connectedness, maintain a sense of purpose, and gain perspective can all be beneficial to us in the long run.

Pamela Harts

Pamela is a CPSS as well as a substance use and recovery advocate with RI International in Jacksonville, North Carolina.  She has been with RI for six years and states that she has enjoyed working with RI since obtaining her peer support certification.  “I am a member of our facility’s Leadership Council and currently assist in the training process of new peer support staff.  This training includes teaching new staff the RI Way and how to moderate group sessions in the facility.”
