“Resilience is the ability to attack while running away.” ―Wes Fessler

This doesn’t mean throwing something at a mugger and bolting down the street (though I’m not stopping you if you find yourself in that situation). We are talking about resilience in recovery. Believe me, this quote had me stumped for quite a while and honestly everyone may have a different perspective than I do, and that’s ok. But here are my thoughts on what it means to attack while running away…

Resilience keeps you moving toward your goal even when new problems arise.

Plan B… or C… or D… whatever it takes! It means acknowledging that the path you are currently on isn’t the best one while also continuing to move forward towards your recovery/success. Remain unstoppable and always in action. Admit defeat and jump into the next plan for success. Sure failure stings but you can feel the pain while moving forward in resilience towards epic success. Running from the problem and fighting against it is all in one motion and we’ve labeled this strategy… resilience.

Who knows, maybe running from a situation is the attack you need to make to succeed.
